Iraqi president: Targeting Hawler, Sulaymaniyah violates Iraq’s sovereignty

In a post published today, Saturday, on X platform, Iraqi President Nizar Amidi condemned the attacks targeting Hawler and Sulaymaniyah, saying: “The attacks that targeted the cities of Hawler and Sulaymaniyah represent an unacceptable violation of Iraq’s sovereignty. Any targeting of Iraqi territory, under any pretext, threatens the security of its citizens and its stability.”

He added that “Iraq rejects being a battlefield for conflicts or a venue for settling regional scores,” reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to relations based on mutual respect and good neighborliness, in a way that safeguards the sovereignty of states and spares the peoples of the region further escalation and instability.
