Iranian authorities sentence Kurdish woman to 3 years in prison

The website Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Prisoners reported that Iranian authorities issued a three-year prison sentence against the Kurdish young woman following her arrest during the Israeli attacks on Iran.

According to the report, the young Kurdish woman, Shida Azizi, from the city of Sanna in Eastern Kurdistan, was sentenced by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj for "attempting to undermine national security."

The report stated that her arrest occurred during the 12-day-long attacks between Iran and Israel in Sanna, and that she was taken to prison without a judicial warrant.

In this context, the website revealed new information regarding the punishment of two women in Sanna and Evin prisons.

The two political prisoners, Marziyeh Farsi and Forough Taghipour, in Evin Prison are reportedly experiencing deteriorating health due to lack of medical care and increasing security pressure.

It was noted that the two political prisoners were detained in 2023, coinciding with the anniversary of the "Women, Life, Freedom" uprising, and were later transferred to Evin Prison. Judge Iman Afshari of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran sentenced each of them to 15 years in prison on charges of "contact with opposition groups hostile to the Iranian regime.”
