Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said today that the Strait of Hormuz is completely open to all commercial shipping for the duration of the ceasefire, in line with the truce in Lebanon.

Araghchi added in a post on the platform X that vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz will follow the coordinated route already announced by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

Oil prices reacted sharply, with both Brent crude and U.S. crude dropping by more than 8% after the announcement that the strait had been reopened to all commercial traffic.

U.S. President Donald Trump quickly posted on his account on Truth Social confirming the development.

Trump wrote: “Iran announces the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for full passage of ships. Thank you!”
