Internet Security Forces launch fourth phase of “Humanity and Security” in al-Hol Camp

In an interview with ANHA Agency, Maen al-Asi, a senior official in the Internal Security Forces of al-Jazira Canton, stated that the operation follows the recent thwarting of an attempted escape involving more than 50 women and children from the families of ISIS mercenaries. He noted that the security units inside the camp had successfully foiled the smuggling attempt.

Objectives of the Operation

Al-Asi emphasized that the operation’s primary goal is the protection of camp residents, adding:

“Another core objective is to safeguard the service facilities operating inside the camp, which are working tirelessly to provide logistical and food assistance to the population. Some groups within the camp had previously attempted to sabotage organizational buildings and assault their sites, which made the launch of this operation essential.”

He further explained that the operation also seeks to confront ISIS sleeper cells attempting to recruit underage children under the so-called banner of “Cubs of the Caliphate,” indoctrinating them with extremist ideology and preventing their reintegration into normal society.

Al-Asi affirmed: “The security forces are resolute and determined to pursue all terrorist strongholds, whether inside al-Hol Camp or beyond it.”

Response to Residents’ Appeals

On the timing of the operation, al-Asi clarified: “It was launched in direct response to the appeals of camp residents and the recent rise in smuggling attempts. The humanitarian dimension was a key driver, aimed at protecting civilians and preserving the camp’s humanitarian and service facilities.”

In conclusion, the senior official stressed that no fixed timeframe has been set for the operation, which will continue until its objectives are fully achieved and stability and security are ensured in the camp.
