Internal Security member martyred in armed attack in Deir ez-Zor

The General Command of the Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria announced today the martyrdom of one of its members in an armed attack carried out by two unknown assailants in the Deir ez-Zor Canton.

According to an official statement, two gunmen riding a motorcycle intercepted a civilian transport vehicle this morning, which was carrying a member of the Internal Security Forces and a member of the Syrian Democratic Forces, on their way to work.

The statement noted that the gunmen forced the driver to lower his head at gunpoint before firing directly into the vehicle, resulting in the martyrdom of the Internal Security member and injury to the SDF member, whose condition remains unstable at the time of the statement’s release.

The security forces described the attack as a “cowardly and treacherous act,” affirming that it is part of ongoing attempts to destabilize the region. They announced the launch of a detailed investigation and security pursuit to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the commitment to continue protecting the security and stability of local communities despite these threats, without disclosing the martyr’s identity.
