Interim government prevents families of prisoners from meeting their sons in Aleppo

A number of families of prisoners from the cities of Rojava headed to the city of Aleppo in order to meet their sons or find out their fate, but the authorities of the interim government prevented them and dispersed their gatherings

Local sources, relatives of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) prisoners held in prisons run by the Syrian Interim Government, reported that many of them traveled to Aleppo several days ago, specifically to the prisons where their sons are being held.

However, the Internal Security Forces in Aleppo prevented them from meeting, visiting, or even speaking with their sons, noting that security personnel threatened them with abduction if they did not "disperse immediately."

Several of them, some of whom managed to contact their families or pay bribes to learn their whereabouts, told ANHA agency that there are two main locations in Aleppo where the prisoners are being held: the Military Security branch near al-Basel roundabout, and the former Political Security branch located in the Al-Suleimaniyeh neighborhood.

They added that there is also a secret prison established in the basement of a building located between the Rahman Mosque and the Youth Welfare Stadium in Aleppo, in addition to other secret prisons, some of which are located in halls in the Shaqif area, north of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, while the exact locations of other prisons remain unknown.

There are also prisons in Manbij and Homs, in addition to the al-Aqtan prison, holding both civilian and military prisoners from the region.

It is worth noting that the Deputy Minister of Defense in the Syrian Interim Government for the Eastern Region, Sipan Hamo (Samir Ousso), stated in his last interview with ANHA agency that "on the day the merger was announced, everyone should have been released from the prisons without any installments," and emphasizing that "linking the issue to the political pressure being exerted is unethical."

Meanwhile, Ahmed al-Hilali, the spokesperson for the presidential team tasked with implementing the January 29 agreement, said in a recent media statement that the prisoner issue will be resolved soon and there will be no exchange operation, adding: "We have moved beyond that stage."
