Historic call of leader will affect Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran

A Saudi newspaper stated that the historic call by leader Abdullah Ocalan may not only provide a significant opportunity to reshape Turkey's domestic policy but also its foreign policy. More importantly, it could influence Turkey's relations with neighboring countries that have Kurdish populations, namely Syria, Iraq, and Iran. Meanwhile, Dutch lawmakers have criticized the European Union's statements regarding the ongoing violence in Syria.

Global analyses and reports today addressed the impacts of leader Abdullah Ocalan's call on the region and Dutch lawmakers' criticism of the European Union's statements regarding the ongoing violence in Syria.

Impact of leader Abdullah Ocalan's historic call on the region

In a historic call for peace and democratic transformation last month, leader Abdullah Ocalan urged an end to the decades-long conflict. However, an analysis by the Saudi newspaper Arab News indicated that resolving the conflict will not be without challenges, given its complexity and the involvement of multiple stakeholders.

The newspaper suggested that leader Ocalan's historic call may not only offer a major opportunity to reshape Turkey's domestic policy but also its foreign policy and, more importantly, its relations with neighboring countries that have Kurdish populations, including Syria, Iraq, and Iran.

The newspaper also noted, "This process is seen as a means to strengthen not only Turkey's economy but also the economies of Iraq and Syria by removing a major barrier to their reintegration into a regional economy. Several projects are already on the agenda, including the Development Road project with Iraq."

Dutch lawmakers criticize EU statements on ongoing violence in Syria

Dutch lawmakers Pieter Omtzigt and Eric van der Burg strongly criticized the European Union’s diplomatic response to the ongoing violence in Syria, stating that the EU misrepresented the situation and failed to properly identify those responsible for the attacks, according to the Dutch website NL Times.

The EU's diplomatic service issued a statement on Saturday strongly condemning the attacks and all acts of violence against civilians. The statement also mentioned that the recent attacks "were carried out by pro-Assad elements on interim government forces in coastal areas of Syria."

However, Omtzigt rejected this description, calling the EU statement "a strange statement given the horrific images of executions, which appear to be the work of the new rulers and their allies." Van der Burg echoed these concerns, saying, "This distorts the roles of perpetrators and victims. The regime is responsible."
