Hezbollah demands Lebanese government to reverse its decision to expel ambassador

Hezbollah called on Lebanese authorities today to "immediately reverse" their decision to declare the newly appointed Iranian ambassador to Beirut persona non grata and give him until Sunday to leave the country, announcing its rejection of the decision, which it described as a "national sin."

In a statement, Hezbollah said: "Hezbollah calls on the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister to demand that the Minister of Foreign Affairs immediately reverse this decision due to its serious repercussions." It categorically rejected the decision, which it described as a "national sin" and a "reckless and reprehensible step that does not serve Lebanon's supreme national interests, its sovereignty, or its national unity."

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry announced today that it had informed Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Reza Sheibani that it had withdrawn its approval of his accreditation and demanded that he leave by next Sunday at the latest.
