Health workers protest three-month salary delay

Health workers and staff integrated into the Ministry of Health of the transitional government held a protest today outside the National Hospital in Hasakah, demanding payment of their salaries, which have been delayed for three months since their integration into the ministry.

Dozens of doctors, nurses, administrators, and anesthesia technicians took part in the protest, holding signs demanding payment of their dues, including: "We want our salaries now. Enough delays," "Our salaries are our right, not a favor," and "Three months of patience, our homes have no food."

During the protest, anesthesiologist Ramzi Hussein read a statement on behalf of the protesters, saying they continue to perform their humanitarian and professional duties despite going three months without receiving their financial entitlements, placing additional burdens and living expenses on them.

The protesters called for the immediate payment of all overdue dues, without further delays or promises with no specific deadlines. They also called for formalizing the financial entitlements of integrated employees on an equal basis with their colleagues in the healthcare sector, to ensure that the crisis does not recur in the future.

The statement stressed that the health workers' commitment to continuing to provide medical services does not mean giving up their right, and that of their families, to a dignified life.
