8 injured in Idlib, Defense Ministry says temporary storage exploded

Eight people were injured, according to a preliminary toll, in an explosion that the Defense Ministry said occurred at a “temporary storage site designated for collecting weapons and war remnants before their transfer” near the city of Sarmada in the Idlib countryside. The Media and Communications Department of the Defense Ministry said in a statement that the explosion in the Idlib countryside occurred at a “temporary storage site designated for collecting weapons and war remnants before their transfer” near the city of Sarmada in northern Idlib.

It said the explosion injured a number of ministry personnel, while the preliminary toll, according to information reported by ANHA correspondents from local residents and government authorities, stands at eight injured.

Following the explosion, Defense Ministry units, in coordination with the relevant authorities, began securing the site, sealing off the surrounding area and taking the necessary measures to protect civilians.

No further information has so far emerged regarding the nature of the injuries, while the circumstances and causes of the explosion remain under investigation.
