The head of Sariya village, located in Afrin’s occupied Mabata countryside, was severely wounded as a result of random gunfire by the “Muhammad al-Fatih” faction, which is affiliated with the Turkish occupation army. The shooting took place on Wednesday, while he was heading with several young men from the village toward the olive groves after suspecting the presence of thieves in the area.

According to residents’ testimonies, the incident occurred in the “Kurti Khinzira” and “Ard Aqqari” areas of Sariya village, where the mercenaries heavily opened fire without any warning, leading to the injury of the village head, Bashir Hameed Muhammad (63 years old), who was struck by a bullet.

He was immediately transported to the hospital and is currently in intensive care.

This incident comes amid a rise in crimes in the region, especially during the olive harvest season, heightening residents’ concerns about deteriorating security conditions and the recurrence of attacks against civilians.
