Following the 74th genocide (firman) carried out against the Yazidi community in the district of Shengal on 3 August 2014, the community has gradually shifted from confronting the consequences of the genocide and seeking international recognition to strengthening its political and administrative presence, pursuing justice, uncovering the fate of the missing, and ensuring such atrocities are never repeated.

Anas Mohammed, a veterinarian and head of the Veterinary Directorate in Qamishlo, said the region's livestock sector is facing growing health challenges due to environmental and climatic conditions, compounded by a shortage of vaccines. He noted that the spread of viral and seasonal diseases has negatively affected breeders and livestock production, contributing to declining herd numbers and increasing economic losses. Writer and researcher Fawaz Othman signed his two new books, On the Banks of Love and Kurdish Women: History and the Present, during a cultural evening in Qamishlo. The Çil Axa Fuel Directorate confirmed that it is coordinating with the Transport Office to introduce a new mechanism regulating public transport vehicles and removing inactive vehicles from service routes, paving the way for the resumption of subsidized diesel allocations.
