Farmers in Hasakah province face growing difficulties preparing for the upcoming agricultural season amid delays by the transitional government in paying outstanding dues for their wheat crops and the lack of agricultural support. The situation limits their ability to secure production supplies and prepare their land on time, prompting some to consider converting their land to alternative projects that provide a more stable income. The resumption of construction work on a housing cooperative in the Hama countryside has brought the issue of urban expansion at the expense of agricultural land back to the forefront. Work had previously been halted following complaints, while residents and farmers are calling for the project to be halted again until land classification is completed and its legal status is verified, in order to protect fertile agricultural land and groundwater.

Students in Hasakah rejected the Syrian transitional government’s decision to limit Kurdish-language instruction to three classes per week, stressing their right to education in their mother tongue as part of their identity and culture.
