Hasakah governor appoints interim offices for Qamishlo and Serkaniya councils

Hasakah Governor Engineer Nour al-Din Issa Ahmed issued two decisions today forming interim executive offices for the city councils of Qamishlo and Serkaniya, tasking them with exercising the powers of the two councils and their executive offices until new elections are held.

Under Decision No. 735, issued on September 7, 2026, an interim executive office was appointed for the Qamishlo City Council, headed by Brin Sami al-Mohammad. Its members include Mohammad Juma Saker as deputy council head, along with Raida Abed Hamoud, Shamir Michel Touma, Amina Murad Omar, Abdul Razzaq Nouri al-Asi, Abdul Razzaq Ahmad Hami, Dr. Radwan Saeed Mohammad, and Hassan Ali Mohammad.

The decision stipulates that the office shall exercise the powers and responsibilities of the Qamishlo City Council and its executive office as provided for under relevant laws and regulations, particularly the Local Administration Law issued by Legislative Decree No. 107 of 2011 and its amendments, until new elections are held. It also annuls any decisions contradicting its provisions.

The governor also issued Decision No. 734 establishing an interim executive office for the Serkaniya City Council, headed by Anwar Mohammad Mulla Matar. Its members include Faisal Ibrahim Abdul Hay as deputy council head, along with Mustafa Mohammad Khair Ali, Rayha Ismail al-Ahmad, Maher Abdul Latif al-Nouri, Amer Mahmoud Ibrahim, and Salah al-Din Subhi Khodr.

The decisions come as part of efforts to reorganize the work of local councils and manage the affairs of the two cities until new elections are held.
