Hamas says it found body of Israeli hostage inside Gaza Tunnels

Hamas announced on Tuesday that it will hand over the body of an Israeli hostage found inside one of the tunnels in the Gaza Strip, a day after the group delivered another set of remains to Israel via the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In a statement, the Palestinian movement said it had located the body of a recently deceased Israeli hostage and would transfer it to Israel. Hamas accused Israel of “obstructing efforts to locate the bodies of hostages and missing persons” inside the enclave.

The announcement comes a day after Hamas handed over what it said were the remains of another Israeli hostage. Israeli authorities later denied the claim, saying the remains “do not belong to any of the thirteen hostages still held in Gaza.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Hamas of “violating the Gaza ceasefire agreement,” saying the group had delivered “additional parts of the body of a deceased hostage” that Israeli forces had already recovered earlier.

Netanyahu added that he would meet with the security establishment to discuss Israel’s response to what he described as “Hamas’s violations of the Gaza agreement.
