ANHA correspondents report that the ceremonial actions are currently underway in the countryside of the Dokan sub-district, located in Sulaymaniyah Province, Southern Kurdistan. These measures are being carried out by the People’s Defense Forces (HPG), also known as the Guerrilla forces, as a response to Leader Ocalan’s call.

According to ANHA correspondents, the proceedings include a statement delivered by a group of HPG members, and the symbolic laying down of arms by the group, reflecting adherence to the call made by Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The event is being attended by dozens of journalists, intellectuals, and politicians, in addition to representatives of various political parties, organizations, and civil society groups from Kurdistan, Turkey, and other parts of the world, including the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party).

These measures are part of the response to Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s initiative titled “Peace and Democratic Society,” which he first announced on February 27 of this year, and reiterated in a recent video message dated June 9.

This phase began with Leader Ocalan’s declaration on February 27, where he launched the “Peace and Democratic Society” initiative, stating: “The second century of the Republic cannot enjoy unity and lasting continuity unless it is crowned with democracy. Without democracy, there is no point in seeking or implementing any system; it’s impossible. Democratic consensus is the essential approach. In this process, I call for disarmament and take historical responsibility for this call.”

In his latest video message, Leader Abdullah Ocalan stated: “My belief lies in politics and social peace, not in weapons. I call on you to implement this principle.”
