Group of Afrin IDPs returns to their hometowns 

The convoy left at dawn as part of the January 29 agreement signed between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Syria's interim government, which provides for facilitating the return of displaced people to their homes.

The convoy was attended by Mahmoud Khalil, Deputy Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Hasakah Governorate, and Mustafa Abdi, a member of the presidential team tasked with implementing the January 29 agreement.

Speaking at a press conference, Abdi said “today's convoy is the final group of Afrin IDPs returning home under the January 29 agreement and preparations are continuing to begin the return of displaced people from Serê Kaniyê after mine clearance operations are completed.”

Abdi also said work is underway to restart the Alouk water station and resume water pumping. He noted that a delegation of judges from the Autonomous Administration had held meetings with the Ministry of Justice as part of implementing the January 29 agreement and discussing integration measures.

He added that efforts are also continuing to reopen government institutions responsible for civil status services and passport issuance in the coming period.

The convoy is scheduled to arrive at its destination later today.
