U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham has once again warned of threats facing the Kurds in Syria, vowing to introduce legislation imposing sanctions on parties hostile to them and cautioning of serious repercussions for Washington.

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham said he is following “with deep concern the deterioration of the situation in Syria,” warning that “the Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government allied with Turkey.”

In a post published today on the platform X, Graham added that “abandoning the Kurds, who were the principal allies in defeating the ISIS caliphate, would be catastrophic for the reputation of the United States and its national security interests.”

He noted that later this week he will introduce “a bill aimed at imposing severe sanctions on any government or group that participates in hostile actions against the Kurds,” expressing his belief that the “Save the Kurds Act” will receive strong bipartisan support and must include effective provisions to ensure its enforcement.
