Girl missing, 2 Kurdish citizens arrested in Damascus without warrants

The Afrin Violations Documentation Center reported that contact was lost with Yusra Ibrahim, a high school student enrolled at the “Nazih Fadel Al-Qattan” school in the Jaramana neighborhood of Damascus. She has been missing since July 28, 2025, after leaving her school, according to local sources cited by the center.

Yusra is originally from the village of Kharbat al-Ward in the Damascus countryside and belongs to the Kurdish community. As of the time of this report, no confirmed information has been received regarding her whereabouts.

In a separate development, the same center reported that the General Security Forces of the Syrian transitional government arrested two Kurdish citizens at a security checkpoint in the Tishreen neighborhood of Damascus on July 27, without filing any official charges or presenting arrest warrants.

According to sources, the detainees are Mohammad Ibrahim and a woman named Sabiha (36 years old), both from the village of Basli in occupied Afrin. They were reportedly stopped and detained while passing through the checkpoint in a routine manner, with no official explanation given for their arrest.

The families of the missing young woman and the two detainees are calling for immediate disclosure of their loved ones' fates, urging the responsible authorities to fulfill their legal and humanitarian duties and to put an end to the recurring violations targeting civilians.
