General mobilization participants: We reject hate speech, protect all communities

Mercenaries of the Syrian interim government, backed by the Turkish occupying state, continue to launch attacks on Rojava, accompanied by hate speech and incitement by media outlets against Kurds.

In response, the people of Rojava continue to protect their cities around the clock within the framework of the general mobilization declared by the Autonomous Administration of the Jazira Canton. In this context, residents participating in the general mobilization in Hasakah spoke to our agency while guarding their neighborhoods day and night.

Young resident Abdul Rahim Mohammed stated that they go out every evening in shifts to protect neighborhoods from sleeper cells and potential attacks on the area.

He emphasized that they do not want the region to be dragged into inter-communal conflict, especially between Kurds and Arabs, despite the attacks targeting Kurds, saying: “We reject nationalist and sectarian rhetoric. We are ready to defend ourselves.”

Citizen Ahmed Mal also rejected the racist and sectarian discourse issued by some parties of the interim government against the components of Hasakah, particularly incitement between Kurds and Arabs. He stressed that social ties and intermarriage have united these components since ancient times.

He noted that they will protect the values and principles they have lived by for thousands of years, including equality, peace, and mutual respect among all components living together.

Ahmed Mal warned against attempts to drag the region’s components into a civil, sectarian, or nationalist war, stressing that its consequences would be catastrophic for all communities and the region as a whole.

For her part, young woman Beritan Mohammed confirmed that they protect all components by conducting nightly patrols to safeguard neighborhoods, not only Kurds, as their bonds with other communities go back thousands of years and cannot be torn apart by wars.

Beritan warned of incitement and attempts to sow discord among the region’s components by certain parties, alongside the ongoing attacks, saying: “We must stand against these attempts and not allow them.”

She stressed that the region is known for its cultural, sectarian, and religious diversity, and that such provocations aim to undermine coexistence and turn communities against one another.

She called on all components to join the general mobilization to protect the gains achieved by the July 19 Revolution for all communities and to secure a future marked by peace and democracy.

In conclusion, Beritan noted that the blood of all components—Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Armenians, and Yazidis—has mingled on this land in the fight against ISIS, saying: “Our people must remain vigilant.”
