Gaza: deaths from famine, malnutrition rise to 420 as Israeli army bombs another tower

The Gaza Ministry of Health announced today, Saturday, 7 new deaths caused by famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, including two children.

The ministry clarified in a statement on its official Facebook page that the total number of victims of malnutrition has reached 420 deaths, including 145 children, since the start of recording Integrated Phase Classification cases of food insecurity for famine. Previously, 142 deaths were reported, including 30 children.

In a related development, the Israeli army announced today that it bombed a multi-story residential building known as “Al-Noor Tower” in Gaza City, alleging that the building contains or is adjacent to “terrorist infrastructure linked to Hamas.”

The army urged residents of the tower and surrounding areas to evacuate immediately and head towards the humanitarian zone in al-Mawasi to avoid harm. This strike is part of a gradual campaign to demolish residential towers in Gaza, which began last Friday as part of Operation “Gideon Vehicles 2,” resulting in the destruction of other towers and the displacement of thousands of Palestinians. This escalates the suffering of the population and exacerbates the humanitarian crisis.

On another front, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported today that Minister Ayman Safadi and his British counterpart Yvette Cooper stressed during a phone call the need to intensify efforts to reach a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and to open all crossings for humanitarian aid delivery.

The ministers also discussed the deteriorating situation in the West Bank due to ongoing Israeli measures, particularly settlement expansion and land confiscation. Safadi reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of the Israeli aggression against Qatar and reaffirmed support for protecting its security, stability, territorial integrity, and citizens.
