From Qamishlo, invitation to participate in Newroz 2026

The preparatory committee for Newroz 2026 in Qamishlo issued a statement on Wednesday to the public opinion and the city residents from Nowruz Square in Hemo, outlining the program of events for this year's Newroz celebrations. The statement called upon the Kurdish people and all communities in the region to participate widely in the festivities with a sense of responsibility and great enthusiasm.

The statement was read by Hevi Ahmed; the co-chair of the Qamishlo City Council, who congratulated the Kurdish people and all freedom-loving peoples on the arrival of Nowruz, emphasizing that preparations were underway to commemorate the occasion in Hemo Square.

The statement extended its congratulations to the Kurdish people and all peoples longed for freedom on the arrival of Newroz. It noted that preparations were continuing for the celebration in Hemo Square and expressed hope for participation with a sense of responsibility and great enthusiasm befitting the resistance of the Kurdish people.

The statement added, "Come in droves to Newroz Square so that this year's Newroz will be for Kurdish unity and freedom, and for democracy and peace for all peoples."

The committee announced that Newroz celebrations of this year in Qamishlo will begin at 11:00 AM in Hemo Square, and will feature performances by the following artists and groups:
