France expresses concern over targeting of Beit Jinn in Syria

The chargé d’affaires of the French Embassy in Damascus, Jean-Baptiste Favre, expressed his country’s concern on Sunday over the civilian casualties resulting from Israeli military operations in the town of Beit Jinn in the Damascus countryside.

Jean-Baptiste Favre posted today on the X platform that France is “concerned” about reports of civilian casualties during the Israeli military operations in Beit Jinn, located in rural Damascus.

Favre stated: “We call on Israel to respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and we express our concern over information indicating that civilian casualties occurred during the Israeli military operations in Beit Jinn.”

He added: “We urge all countries in the region to engage in the ongoing efforts to enable Syria to become a center of peace, security, and stability for the benefit of the Syrian people and the region as a whole.”

Last Friday, the town of Beit Jinn witnessed an Israeli airstrike following clashes between an Israeli military patrol that had advanced into the area and armed groups in the town. The incident resulted in the deaths of 13 people, including women and children from the town and the injury of several Israeli soldiers
