The Jordanian Army Radio announced today that Border Guard forces in the eastern region foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics that had been carried by balloons guided through rudimentary devices.

According to the statement, Border Guard units detected the aerial objects as soon as they entered Jordanian airspace and dealt with them in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department before they fell inside Jordanian territory.

Army Radio confirmed that the seized items were transferred to the competent authorities to complete investigations and take the necessary legal measures, noting that the armed forces continue to monitor the borders and thwart any smuggling or infiltration attempts that threaten the country’s security.
