civilian killed by gunmen in Quneitra countryside

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today that a man from the village of Ghadeer al-Bustan in the Quneitra countryside was killed after being targeted by direct gunfire from unknown gunmen. The incident occurred while he was on the road between the city of Nawa and al-Alan area, on the administrative border between Daraa and Quneitra.

Sources added that the victim sustained critical injuries that led to his immediate death. No information was available regarding the identity of the perpetrators or the group behind the attack.

The severity of crimes is noticeably increasing in areas controlled by the Syrian Interim Government, with most of them motivated by sectarianism or revenge, amidst the prevailing security vacuum and the widespread availability of weapons.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights presented statistics on the number of crimes and murders since the beginning of this year in areas controlled by the interim government, where 369 crimes were committed, resulting in the deaths of 424 people, including 66 women and 30 children.
