ENKS considers meeting with al-Shara’ outside framework of joint Kurdish delegation

The Syrian Transitional Government extended an invitation to meet with several members of the Kurdish National Council (ENKS), at a time when the Joint Kurdish Delegation expressed its preference that the Council not attend independently. Nevertheless, the Council decided to proceed with the visit to Damascus on its own.

A delegation from the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS), including several members of the presidential body, is currently considering an official invitation to meet with the head of the Transitional Government, Ahmad Al-Shar’, although the date and format of the meeting have yet to be determined.

In an exclusive statement, presidential body member Suleiman Oso said the Council received a direct invitation from the Transitional Government and emphasized the importance of conveying their demands directly, considering that refusing the meeting would be a “grave mistake.” He also clarified that this step does not replace the Kurdish delegation formed following the Conference on Kurdish Unity and Position, held on April 26, 2025.

Conference Decisions

The “Conference on Unity of Position and Kurdish Front in Rojava Kurdistan,” which included all Kurdish parties in Rojava and Syria, approved the formation of a joint delegation to address the Kurdish issue with the Transitional Government in Syria.

Following the conference, a joint Kurdish delegation was established on June 4, 2025, with the goal of discussing political solutions to the Kurdish issue within the framework of national understandings.

Meanwhile, member of the delegation and Co-Chair of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Bervin Yusuf, expressed reservations about the Council’s independent visit, noting that such a decision should have been made within the joint Kurdish delegation framework, not separately.
