The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Syria (OCHA) announced the end of cross-border aid operations from Turkey into Syria after 11 years of work.

In a post on its account on the “X” platform, the office said these operations helped deliver life-saving assistance to millions of people, through more than 65,000 trucks, describing it as part of one of the most complex humanitarian supply chains.

OCHA noted that the next phase will focus on “moving forward,” with an emphasis on partnership, accountability, and enhancing humanitarian impact.

In early April, UN Under-Secretary-General Tom Fletcher confirmed that around 16 million people in Syria still require humanitarian assistance, despite what he described as “encouraging progress” over the past 15 months.
