Electricity Directorate in Çil Agha resolves power crisis in 5 villages

Electricity maintenance teams affiliated with the Çil Agha Electricity Directorate began addressing the power outage affecting five villages in the southern countryside after residents’ complaints escalated over their continued deprivation of electricity during the past period.

The affected villages included Baqla, Baqla Khamo, Al-Hamra, Chamam, and Zakhira, all of which witnessed growing public frustration due to the ongoing outages despite the noticeable improvement in electricity services in Çil Agha city and several surrounding villages.

According to residents, the continued outage was caused by the inability to repair the damaged power line near Safa village after General Security forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government prevented electricity crews from accessing the fault location, despite several attempts to rehabilitate the line supplying the area.

Following residents’ demands and documentation of their suffering, electricity crews in the Çil Agha Electricity Directorate implemented an alternative plan to supply the five villages with electricity by rerouting the power supply and connecting it to a line coming from the city center.

The crews have already begun the line conversion and extension works, with the five villages now receiving electricity from transformers in the Salah al-Din, Ghassan Kanafani, and Al-Hadiqa neighborhoods.

This comes at a time when Çil Agha city and several affiliated villages have witnessed noticeable improvements in electricity services, coinciding with the installation of electronic meters in the city center and Kharab Bajar village, in addition to improved power supply in several northern villages and some southern areas.

Over recent days, residents of the five villages expressed frustration over the continued power cuts, particularly amid rising temperatures and the increasing need for electricity to secure drinking water and operate household appliances. They accused General Security forces affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government and stationed near Safa village of obstructing maintenance crews from reaching the damaged line, which led to delays in repairs and the continuation of the electricity crisis in the area.
