Ghassan Mohsen al-Ali, from the village of al-Haysah in the western Homs countryside, died inside Hassia Prison in Homs after being detained for more than a year and four months without trial.

According to local sources speaking to ANHA agency's correspondent, al-Ali was arrested from his home on January 21, 2025, despite having previously reached a settlement agreement. He was then transferred between several detention centers, including Homs Central Prison, before being moved to Hassia Prison a few days before his death.

Sources added that his family received a call informing them of his death at the university hospital in Homs, with the cause of death attributed to a stroke. The incident has raised widespread questions about the circumstances of his detention and the details surrounding his death.

Hassia Prison, located in the industrial area south of Homs, is known for reports and testimonies detailing the poor conditions of detainees, amidst a lack of clear official information regarding the conditions of detention.
