Egyptian experts call for support for physical freedom campaign of leader Ocalan

A number of Egyptian experts have developed a road map for the campaign demanding the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, which includes working to expand the circle of believers in Ocalan's ideas and those sympathetic to his cause.

Ilhami al-Meligy, the general coordinator of the Arab Initiative for Ocalan’s Freedom, believes that: “The global campaign for the freedom of the leader is very important, necessary, and a duty for every believer in the justice of the cause of the leader and thinker Abdullah Ocalan.”

Al-Meligy believes that: “The impact of the global campaign for Ocalan’s freedom will not be momentary or temporary, but rather cumulative with the multiplicity of events and activities,” and he drew attention to the fact that: “All campaigns interested in defending the leader, such as the Arab and Egyptian Initiative for Ocalan’s Freedom, have succeeded through introductory seminars and educational campaigns in introducing “In the person of Ocalan, the justice of his cause, and the universality of his philosophy and thought.”

The Egyptian writer emphasized that: “Ocalan presented in his encyclopedia, the Manifesto of Democratic Civilization, in its five parts, solutions and visions that could contribute to resolving many of the crises and conflicts that the Middle East region suffers from,” and he considered that: “Presenting these theses and solutions will bring more believers in Ocalan’s thought and expand the circle of supporting his freedom and the justice of his cause.”

Exposing Turkey and global hypocrisy

He pointed out that: “The campaign and institutions supporting Ocalan’s freedom are required to expose the lies of the Turkish state about freedom and democracy in light of the continued detention of Leader Ocalan for more than 25 years, without charge or crime other than defending the issues and rights of the Kurdish nation and depriving him of any and all rights guaranteed by the law.” “The international community is considered a political prisoner,” and I consider that: “Exposing these Turkish practices will contribute significantly to expanding the base of supporters for the freedom of leader Ocalan.”

Regarding the lack of interaction of international human rights institutions with the case of leader Abdullah Ocalan, al-Meligy believes that this: “The matter is likely for more than one reason, including that the campaigns supporting Ocalan may not be strong or effective or do not have the tools that would enable them to convince international institutions, but there is another factor that there are political calculations and interests of these organizations, and therefore Turkey is viewed as a member of NATO and a strong and influential system in the international system, and therefore the method of dealing with it differs from dealing with weak countries, as the Ocalan issue is turned a blind eye to, in exchange for the special calculations of the major countries to which these organizations belong.”

Ilhami al-Meligy noted that: “The war on Gaza is also considered a clear example of global hypocrisy, as Gaza is subjected to a massive campaign of extermination amidst silence, global complicity, and betrayal by international organizations, which have proven, with many evidence, that they are subject to the policies of major powers and cannot deviate from the line drawn for them.”

The Egyptian writer emphasized that: “Ocalan, in his writings and arguments, exposed this global hypocrisy and proved the falsity of the international community and its submission to exploitative capitalism and colonial powers.”

Change strategy

For his part, Egyptian historian Ali Abu al-Khair believes that “the global campaign to liberate Leader Abdullah Ocalan begins and ends with the Arab and Islamic peoples, as well as the Kurdish people, of course.”

He told ANHA’s agency, Ali Abu al-Khair, that: “The campaign must change its strategy and communicate with international and regional organizations, the United Nations, the World Council for Human Rights, the Arab League and Islamic Cooperation organizations, in addition to civil and civil action organizations in all the world to expose Turkish practices against Ocalan and against the will of the Kurdish people.”

Abu al-Khair pointed out that: “The campaign is currently being affected by the events in the Gaza Strip because the whole world is following the news of the Zionist war against the Palestinians. Hence, the committee must be patient and benefit from global support for Gaza and then follow the case of the detained leader Abdullah Ocalan for a dismal quarter of a century.”

He believes that: “Amidst this nebulous vision of war in the Middle East, the campaign must continue with each other, and do not forget to take millions of signatures from all countries and peoples to pressure Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s regime to release Ocalan.”

The Egyptian historian stressed that: “The most important thing is to spread the oppression of the Kurdish people in a real, live, consistent way, especially since there are Kurds living in European and American countries who can spread the reasons for the oppression of the Kurds,” and stressed: “The necessity of there being Kurdish-Kurdish communication and Middle Eastern communication with Europe, to achieve what we can call vision and victory.”
