Easter celebrations in Qamishli churches
Christians in Qamishli, who follow both the Eastern and Western calendars, celebrated Easter with a mass in churches. They hoped that "this Easter will be the beginning of good for Syria and the entire world."
The city of Qamishli in the Jazira Canton in NE Syria witnessed widespread celebrations this morning on the occasion of Easter (Resurrection). Local churches organized religious events, attended by members of both Eastern and Western Christian denominations.
The celebrations began with the ringing of church bells, announcing the good news of the Resurrection. Hundreds of members of the Christian community flocked to the city's churches to pray and celebrate.
The celebrations began with the performance of hymns, chants, prayers, and supplications for the occasion, and the exchange of congratulations and blessings among those present.
Citizen Antoinette Kato described to ANHA agency as "exceptional and distinctive," noting that "all Christian sects celebrated together this year with great joy the resurrection of Jesus Christ."
She added, "We hope that this resurrection will be a good start for Syria and the entire world, and that peace and security will prevail in all corners of the globe."
This year's celebration is particularly significant, as it combines the Eastern and Western calendars, reflects religious coexistence in the region, and represents a message of hope and peace from Syria to the world, providing an opportunity to showcase the cultural and religious diversity of NE Syria.
