Dr. Sheikhmous: There must be joint program among Kurdish parties

Speaking to ANHA agency, Dr. Sheikhmous addressed the significance of Kurdish unity and the impact of the peace process and the democratic society initiative launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Turkey. 

“Kurds are facing a historic opportunity” 

Dr. Sheikhmous explained that the Middle East is on the brink of major transformation, with Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Iran, and Turkey at the center of these shifts, emphasizing that the Kurds are facing a historic opportunity to secure greater rights.

Commenting on the responsibilities placed upon the Kurds at this stage, he said: “We must form alliances and develop a joint program in order to be able to achieve our demands.”

“The process has undermined threats against Rojava”

Dr. Sheikhmous highlighted the peace process and the democratic society initiative launched by Leader Abdullah Ocalan and their impact on Kurdish unity, continuing: “This process has shown that peace has replaced war, and it has had a positive impact on Rojava. It has undermined the Turkish threats against Rojava. Although Turkey continues to prevent the Kurds from attaining their rights in Syria, the situation after the process is better. Dialogue between Southern Kurdistan and Rojava has also improved, particularly with the Kurdistan Democratic Party, as dialogue between them continues. There is also the possibility of the Iranian regime’s collapse, and all of this constitutes historic opportunities, especially with Kurdish forces and parties realizing the necessity of communicating with one another. This has given the Kurds significant weight on the international stage and increased support for them. We must expand the scope of the unity process and further consolidate our ranks in order to be effective amid these changes.”
