Documentation of Violations Center documents unjust sentences against Syrians in occupied territories

In a report published by the Violations Documentation Center today, it confirmed that citizens in the occupied territories were subjected to unjust provisions by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.

Today, the so-called “Azaz Court” affiliated with Turkish mercenaries in northern Syria issued a 3-year prison sentence against the 45-year-old citizen “Ahmed Qadir Habash,” a resident of the village of Dikeh in the Rajo district of the occupied Afrin Canton, in addition to a fine of 1,500. US dollar, on charges of trying to cross the Turkish border in search of a safe haven.

According to what a local source reported to the Documentation Center, “Habash” tried to cross the border towards Turkish territory from the direction of the city of Azaz occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries in May 2023, and there was no news of him for a period of time until it became clear that he was arrested by the mercenaries of the military police in Azaz.

Today, the so-called "Al-Raei Court" affiliated with Turkish mercenaries in northern Syria issued a 2-year prison sentence and a fine of 1 thousand dollars against the citizen "Abdul Rahman Kanjo" from the people of the village of Baadina, also in Rajo district.

The citizen, Abdul Rahman Kanjo, was arrested on April 19, 2023, by the mercenaries of the Shatt checkpoint at the entrance to the occupied city of Azaz while he was heading to Azaz Hospital, without any reason.

After a month of arrest, the "Military Police" mercenaries in the city of Azaz transferred the citizen "Abdul Rahman" from Azaz prison to the Al-Raei prison, where the citizen Abdul Rahman was subjected to severe torture, and as a result he suffered poor health conditions.

In late May 2023, the military police mercenaries demanded that the family of citizen “Abdul Rahman” pay 5 thousand dollars for his release from Al-Raei prison, and when they failed to provide it, they decided to sentence him to two years.

On December 15, the military police mercenaries in the city of Jenderes arrested the citizen, “Abdul Rahman Haska,” 32 years old, from the village of Miska, in the Jenderes district, without clear reasons.

According to what a local source reported to the Documentation Center, “Haska” was arrested by military police mercenaries while he was in a café in the city of Janderes, and he was taken to one of the detention centers in the city.

The source added that the family of the citizen "Haska" tried to communicate with the mercenaries to inquire about the reason for his arrest, but to no avail.

The areas of northern Syria occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries are constantly witnessing human rights crimes, as citizens are subjected to arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearance, and torture.
