Dismissal of 152 teachers sparks anger in Afrin

ANHA correspondents have learned from a communication group representing Afrin teachers that 152 male and female teachers from the city have been dismissed and had their salaries suspended, despite earlier assurances that their financial entitlements would continue to be paid following their return to Afrin.

According to the teachers, they continued to carry out their educational duties under the Autonomous Administration's curriculum throughout the years of forced displacement in North and East Syria and the Shahba Canton, providing instruction to students despite the exceptional circumstances surrounding their displacement.

They said they had returned to Afrin based on official assurances that their employment and livelihood rights would be protected, including guarantees that their salaries would continue after their return.

However, the teachers said they were subsequently confronted with a decision to suspend their salaries and terminate their employment without any official explanation for the move, triggering widespread frustration among those affected.
