Deteriorating living conditions exacerbate suffering of residents of Hasaka countryside

A video circulating on social media, a copy of which reached ANHA agency, documents the dire living conditions of residents in the villages of Jabal Kazwan (Abdel Aziz) in the southwestern countryside of Hasaka.

The video shows residents complaining of poverty, unemployment, and the cessation of agricultural work and daily life due to the disruption of basic services, most notably fuel.

In the video, residents expressed their frustration with the soaring prices of food in the area and criticized what they described as the government's neglect of their living conditions, economic situation, and access to services.

The residents emphasized that securing basic necessities has become extremely difficult due to the lack of ongoing support and rising prices, holding the institutions of the Syrian Interim Government responsible for monitoring and providing services.

This deterioration comes at a time when areas under the control of factions of the Syrian Interim Government, such as parts of the Hasaka, Raqqa, Tabqa, and Deir ez-Zor countryside, have recently witnessed an increase in protests during January. The residents have reported daily on the absence of basic services and their prices being more than double what they were under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces, exacerbating their suffering and fueling widespread discontent.
