Destruction, looting, plunder in S. Kurdistan due to Turkish attacks

Amid the ongoing Turkish escalation on the lands of S. Kurdistan, hundreds of residents from Kurdish villages have been displaced, the most recent being the residents of the village of Darkali, located within the borders of the Amadiya district in Duhok.

This village is now facing widespread looting after its inhabitants were forcibly displaced, with residents confirming that the Turkish occupying army and KDP members supporting them have looted and seized their properties without any deterrence.

According to reports from the Firat News Agency, the village has been subjected to intense airstrikes by Turkish warplanes, which have directly targeted civilian homes. Some residents who managed to speak to the agency indicated that the Turkish occupying army and KDP members are engaging in looting and theft of their possessions, exploiting the forced displacement of the village's residents.

Sources confirmed that the looting operations included personal belongings from the homes of residents as well as public property, with armed individuals seen stealing the contents of homes after they were evacuated. Video clips obtained by the agency show clear instances of theft in the village, sparking outrage among local residents who view these actions as an attempt to alter the demographic composition and increase pressure on the inhabitants of border areas.

In this context, residents of the border areas expressed their deep concern over the continuation of these operations, warning that the ongoing shelling could lead to the displacement of more residents from Kurdish villages. They affirmed that these villages face an existential threat due to the ongoing displacement and systematic looting policies.
