Derik recalls martyrs of Teql Beql Massacre

On the night of November 19–20, 2022, the Turkish occupation army carried out air and drone attacks on vital sites and infrastructure in NE Syria. The heaviest strike targeted the Fourth Power Station in the village of Teql Beql, in Derik district in the Jazira Canton.

When the occupation forces attacked the station, residents of Derik and its surrounding villages, including ANHA reporter Issam Abdullah, went to document what had happened. After the first attack, the planes returned and launched a second strike on the station, killing 11 civilians: ANHA reporter Issam Abdullah, Hussein Ali, Jijik Haruni, Hilal Qasim, Hadiya Abdullah, Ubaid Khalid, Mahmoud Ali, Faiz Abdullah, Nuri Jeftji, Hussein Khalto, and Mazen Osi.

Today, the Families of Martyrs Council and the families of the martyrs visited their graves at the Martyr Dalil Sarokhan Shrine in a ceremony attended by hundreds of residents of Derik and its villages, as well as colleagues of Issam Abdullah, who laid wreaths on his grave.

Speeches at the shrine emphasized that following in the footsteps of the martyrs is the path to a free and dignified life, and condemned the Turkish occupation army for committing war crimes in full view of the world.
