Democratic AANES congratulates Kurdish people on Kurdish Language Day occasion

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria issued a statement today, on the occasion of Kurdish Language Day, which falls on May 15 of each year.

It affirmed: “Language is the shared memory of societies, the basic identity of every people, and it is a basic right of every people. Preventing the mother tongue has been described and defined in United Nations and European agreements as cultural genocide, but the Kurdish people are deprived of this right, it was exposed to practices of cultural genocide and policies of distortion and denial of the Kurdish language, through the policies practiced by the countries ruling Kurdistan, but the Kurdish people were able to preserve their survival and existence by preserving their language, despite these policies.”

The Democratic AANES noted: “The July 19 Revolution, just as it is a political, social and military revolution for the people in NE Syria, is a cultural revolution at the same time, and a revolution against all policies of denial and cultural genocide.”

The Democratic Autonomous Administration congratulated the Kurdish people, and all those working in the field of the Kurdish language and its development, and said: “We, in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of NE Syria region, confirm that our diligent work will continue so that the Kurdish language is not only official in the NE Syria, but also in everywhere there are Kurds in Syria.”
