DEM Party’s delegation announces results of its visit to Imrali

Yesterday, a delegation from the People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM), composed of MP Pervin Buldan, MP Mithat Sancar, and lawyer Faik Özgür Erol from the Al-Asr Human rights Office, visited Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali Prison. Today, the delegation issued a statement to the public regarding the details of the meeting.

The statement read:

“On October 3, 2025, we held a meeting lasting approximately three and a half hours in Imrali Prison with Mr. Abdullah Ocalan. As usual, Mr. Ocalan was in high spirits, in good health, and displayed great self-confidence.

He noted that the peace process and the building of a democratic society, which began a year ago, have contributed to establishing a state of non-violence in the country and averted major dangers, emphasizing that everyone who took part in this process made a great and honorable effort.

Mr. Ocalan said: ‘Among the important models developed by civilization after three centuries of destructive conflicts and immense losses in world wars, negotiated democracy stands out. The methods and mechanisms that form the essence of this model should be adopted to resolve many of the problems Turkey faces both domestically and externally.’ He proposed that negotiated democracy should prevail in all political and social relations.

Mr. Ocalan added: ‘We remain committed to what was stated in the February 27 declaration, in which we affirmed that the progress of the process depends on political and legal requirements,’ stressing the importance of clearly defining these legal requirements with a comprehensive perspective and working to implement them.

In conclusion, Mr. Ocalan emphasized that the new century of the Republic must be built upon legal foundations for peace and democracy.
