Young man from al-Fu‘ah in Idlib countryside beheaded

A young man named Farid Haj Mousa from the town of al-Fu‘ah in Idlib countryside was beheaded, ten days after he was kidnapped in the city of Latakia.

The victim, Farid Haj Mousa, was reportedly abducted by an armed group in Latakia province. According to local sources, his family had contacted the kidnappers, who demanded a ransom of $150,000 in exchange for his release.

When the family was unable to secure the amount, the kidnappers sent a video documenting his brutal beheading.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) had earlier reported the abduction of two young men from al-Fu‘ah under mysterious circumstances on September 21 in Latakia city, noting that the fate of one of them remains unknown.

Yesterday, Friday, the body of engineer Majd Khalil, who resided in the Soumariyah neighborhood of Damascus, was found two days after he was kidnapped while returning home from his job at the Directorate of Transportation.

Crimes of kidnapping, murder, and extortion have been on the rise in areas under the control of the transitional government in Syria, amid widespread chaos and security breakdown.
