The Lebanese Army announced that a number of its personnel were killed and injured when unexploded ordnance from Israeli shelling exploded while dismantling it in southern Lebanon.

The Lebanese Army announced today, Saturday, that several of its personnel were killed and injured when unexploded ordnance from Israeli shelling exploded while dismantling it in an area between the towns of Majdal Zoun and Zebqin in the Tyre District in southern Lebanon.

The National News Agency reported that "the incident occurred while a Lebanese Army engineering team was dismantling these shells, resulting in a number of martyrs and injuries."

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam mourned the victims via his official Twitter account, expressing his deep sorrow and praising the sacrifices of "the Lebanese Army, which is performing its national duty in the face of ongoing threats."

Salam affirmed: "With great pain, Lebanon mourns the martyrs of our valiant army in the south while performing their national duty."
