Crimes, explosions reflect ongoing security deterioration in Syria

At least 6 people were killed in Syria over the past 24 hours, and a mass grave containing the remains of 8 unidentified bodies was discovered, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

In western Deir ez-Zor countryside, a mass grave was found in the Al-Rawad area near the Tala’i checkpoint, formerly controlled by regime forces. At the time of reporting, at least 8 bodies had been exhumed, with the identities of the victims and the circumstances of their deaths still unknown.

In eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, an Iraqi national, who is a commander in the engineering unit of the Syrian Transitional Government, was killed when a landmine left over from the war exploded near the desert outskirts of Al-Mayadin.

In the town of Namer in Daraa countryside, a girl suffering from psychological disorders stabbed and killed her mother during a severe mental episode, in a crime that shocked the local community.

In the southern Al-Raml neighborhood of Latakia city, a young man was stabbed to death by two individuals with criminal records.

In two separate incidents, landmines left from the war exploded in eastern Homs countryside and in Palmyra, killing three people, including two who were traveling in a vehicle on a road used to transport salt near the Sabkhat Palmyra area.

These incidents highlight the ongoing security threats in the country, whether due to remnants of war or the lack of effective security control in some areas, leaving civilians exposed to daily risks.
