Dozens of civilians abducted on Aleppo–NE Syria road

ANHA agency has documented, based on testimonies from companions of the civilians traveling between the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo and the regions of North and East Syria, the abduction of dozens of individuals, by name, at a joint checkpoint manned by the so-called "General Security" and Turkish-backed mercenaries. According to the witnesses, the abductions took place under armed threat.

The documented names of the abductees are: Fadi Al-Humaidi Al-Khidr, Hanan Nabih Eibo, Amer Zaki Asaad, Moayyad Hassan Al-Hassan, Muhannad Hassan Al-Hassan, Hassan Faisal Shahin, Abdul Rahman Nouri Hassan, Hassan Mansour, Hussam Al-Saleh, and Abdul Aziz Sheikho Sheikho.

This act of abduction and intimidation constitutes a clear violation of Articles 3 and 8 of the Aleppo Agreement, signed between the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and the committee formed by the Syrian Transitional Government.

Article 8 guarantees the freedom of movement for residents of the two neighborhoods and prohibits the prosecution of any individual not implicated in bloodshed prior to the agreement. Article 3 holds the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with Internal Security Forces, responsible for the protection of the residents and the prevention of any assaults against them.

These incidents are not isolated; the road between Deir Hafer and Aleppo has previously witnessed similar abductions of civilians and truck drivers in recent times, amid escalating violations and the continued absence of legal accountability or any official response from the relevant authorities.
