On January 18, remnants of the Ba'athist regime attempted to target points of the Syrian Democratic Forces, security forces, and service institutions in the town of Diban in the Deir ez-Zor region of North and East Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces confronted the attackers, pursued them, and arrested several of them along with the weapons they had in their possession.

Regarding the latest developments and security operations in Deir ez-Zor, the leader of the Hajin Military Council, Khabat al-Sha'aitat, spoke to ANHA's agency and said: "The remnants of the fallen regime tried to sow discord among the people of the region and create a security breach in the Deir ez-Zor district."

Khabat al-Sha'aitat confirmed that the Deir ez-Zor Military Council has completely combed the area for cells and arrested many of them. He said, "They are now in the hands of the relevant authorities, and many weapons were found in their possession, such as shells, shoulder-fired missiles, and machine guns."

On January 25, the Syrian Democratic Forces announced the extension of the final deadline given to the remnants of the former regime's "National Defense" to hand over their weapons from the date of the decision to February 10.

Al-Sha'aitat said in the context of his speech: "We are tracking these cells and will not allow them to expand in this area or cause any security disruption."

He revealed that: "The remnants of the former regime are in contact with elements and officers from these remnants who are present in Iraq and are trying to mobilize their remnants in the region."

Khabat al-Sha'aitat explained that the operation to hunt down the sleeper cells is being carried out in cooperation with the notables and sheikhs of the Deir ez-Zor tribes.

The Commander of the Hajin Military Council, part of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Khabat al-Sha'aitat, confirmed that their forces are ready for all challenges and are currently on several fronts resisting the occupiers and pursuing remnants of the regime's cells and ISIS mercenary cells.
