Call for participation in women's strike in Switzerland, support for YPJ

The Kurdish Women's Union in Switzerland (YJK-S) announced its participation in the women's strike scheduled for June 14 across various Swiss cities, reaffirming its support for the ongoing global campaign "We Are All YPJ," according to the ANF news agency.

In a written statement, the union clarified that its members will participate in all events related to the women's strike across Swiss cities, emphasizing the importance of women's solidarity and the defense of women's rights and achievements.

Approximately 500,000 women participated in Switzerland's first national women's strike, which took place on June 14,1991. In addition to demanding equal pay, equal opportunities, and the end of discrimination, the women called for a work stoppage and the organization of various protest activities. The strike slogan was: "If women want it, everything will stop."

After 28 years, the country witnessed the second National Women's Strike in 2019, with widespread participation from nearly half a million people. Since 2020, this event has evolved into an annual occasion held on June 14 each year.

The union stated in its announcement that it will participate in the strike activities taking place in several cities, including Lausanne, Geneva, Bern, Biel, Winterthur, Lucerne, Saint-Gallen, Basel, and Zurich, under the slogan "We Are All YPJ."

The statement also placed special emphasis on the upcoming events in Geneva, noting their coincidence with protests linked to the G7 summit. The Union stated: "On June 14, we will take to the streets holding our flags and slogans, and we will strongly support the international campaign 'We Are All YPJ.' Supporting YPJ means supporting women's right to defend themselves."

The union called on Kurdish women and their supporters to actively participate in the strike activities and to express solidarity with women's issues and rights.

Geneva: June 14, at 16:00, Geneva train station.

Biel: June 14, at 1:30 PM, Falser Square.

Zurich: June 14, at 5:00 PM, Helvitya Square.

Bazel: June 14, at 3:00 PM, Peter Square.

St. Gallen: June 13, at 10:00 AM, Barn Square.

Winterthur: June 13, at 17:00, Neumarkt Square.

Losierne: June 14, at 16:00, Fugligartley Square.

Bern: June 14, from 12:45 to 15:00 at Schützenmatt Square, and from 15:00 to 17:00 in front of the Swiss Federal Parliament.
