Dozens of individuals attacked Kurdish families in Afrin and the city of Aleppo, vandalizing their cars while they were celebrating Newroz.

Dozens of people assaulted Kurdish youth in Afrin and Aleppo during the Newroz celebrations today.

In Afrin, dozens of individuals physically attacked Kurdish men and women, vandalized their vehicles, and insulted Kurdish symbols.

According to private sources in Afrin, “racist” individuals chanted ethnic and sectarian slogans in the city center while insulting Kurdish symbols.

In Aleppo, reports indicated that security forces of the Interim Government removed barriers at the entrances to Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood and opened the way to attack and assault Kurdish residents there.

These racist and sectarian practices coincided with the Kurdish people’s celebration of Newroz on March 21.
