Around 6 Israeli incursions into South Syria in 72 hours

Over the past 72 hours, South Syria has witnessed a significant Israeli escalation, including approximately six ground incursions, raids, and arrests.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that Israeli forces carried out a series of operations in the Quneitra and Daraa countrysides, including military patrols entering populated villages and towns, firing on civilians, carrying out bombings, and bulldozing agricultural lands, without official response being recorded from the Syrian Interim Government.

According to the timeline, on January 23, an Israeli patrol consisting of three military vehicles entered the village of Ruwayhina in Quneitra central countryside. On the same day, Israeli forces opened fire on shepherds near the village of Bir Ajam, forcing them to flee. Simultaneously, two shells landed in the Naqqar area, west of Jabaata al-Khashab.

The area of Tel Ahmar al-Gharbi, near the border strip, also witnessed an incursion by Israeli engineering vehicles that carried out extensive bulldozing and military construction work inside the base, in a move described as unprecedented.

On January 24, new Israeli patrols entered the villages of al-Rafid and al-Radif in the southern countryside of Quneitra and patrolled the area for a period before withdrawing. This was followed by the arrest of two young men on January 25, while they were herding sheep near the town of Saida al-Hanout.

The Observatory also documented the use of an Israeli glider equipped with a small engine to spray toxic substances on agricultural lands adjacent to the separation strip, targeting the areas of al-Asbah, Kodna, and al-Asha, in what it was described as an "environmental war" targeting the livelihoods of the residents.
