Armed clashes erupted yesterday evening between Peshmerga forces and militants from the Harki tribe, following the forces' intervention to resolve an armed tribal dispute between two tribes in the Khabat district, west of Erbil.

Local sources reported that militants from the Harki tribe attacked Peshmerga patrols, escalating the clashes. The militants then set fire to two military vehicles belonging to the forces.

The situation in the area remains tense this morning, amid security reinforcements and ongoing efforts to contain the crisis and prevent it from spreading to neighboring areas.

The number of casualties or human losses resulting from the clashes is not yet known.
