Activist Azizi was arrested by Iranian security forces on August 4 of last year 2023. On July 23 of the same year the Iranian authorities issued a death sentence against her.

In this context, Amnesty International issued a statement expressing its concern about the decision to execute women's rights activist and detainee in Evin Prison, Bakhshan Azizi.

The statement added: "The Kurdish people in Iran have faced systematic repression by the authorities for years."

The statement indicated that the organization demanded, through a letter addressed to the head of the judiciary in Iran to dismiss the death sentence against the activist Bakhshan Azizi and release her immediately and unconditionally.

The statement pointed out that Bakhshan Azizi was arrested only because of her peaceful humanitarian and human rights activities, and described the sentence issued against her as an "inhuman punishment."
