Al-Jolani's response to coastal violence criticized as "detached from reality”

Cities and rural areas in the Syrian coast witnessed violations against civilians during sweeping operations carried out by Damascus authority forces as a result of the ongoing events there since last Thursday.

Al-Jolani said yesterday, Friday, in his first comment after the coastal violence, that "Syria will pursue the remnants of the ousted Bashar al-Assad regime and bring them to trial."

He added, "Some remnants of the fallen regime are trying to test the new Syria, which they are ignorant of," and continued, "I stress to the security forces not to allow anyone to overstep or overreact."

Observers, responding to what Abu Mohammad Al-Jolani said after the coastal events, stated that he is "detached from reality."

The Syrian coast is witnessing significant tension following violent clashes between armed groups and Damascus authority forces since last Thursday, which have resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people, most of them civilians.
